About the event

Explore the ocean under cover of darkness!

Join North Star Naturalist on the coast for an evening of exploration with flashlights, blacklights, and moonlight. Under the stars, discover a whole galaxy of tiny worlds among kelp-covered rocks, each filled with amazing animals that survive and thrive at the edge of land and sea. When the sun goes down, the tidepools come alive with new, nocturnal faces. This is a slow-paced, curiosity driven event with highly limited capacity to allow for an intimate experience.

Expect to see: Crabs, snails, worms, lobsters, anemones, brittle stars, barnacles, shrimp, mussels, and fluorescence!

Hope to see: Nudibranchs (sea slugs), fish, sea stars, octopus, and maybe something new!

This 90-minute event is for ages 12 and up, and requires steady footing and balance while we navigate the rocky shoreline.
